In case you wanted to get rid of your Outlook account because you do not use it anymore or for any other purpose, the service wants to ensure two things:
- This is you, not another user tries to disable it.
- You haven’t left anything important that you may require later.
Confirming the identity is the necessary step if you started closing the Outlook or Hotmail profiles. This is made to secure your info from accidental deleting.
For instance, if you lost your info and had to reset your private data, you would have to wait 60 days to delete the account. Still, if you definitely seek to disable an MS account, find out more about how to fix the issue, and what to do.
Basic Steps to Do Before Removing Your MS Client
To disable your email client forever, you should also to remove the MS client. In case you do it, the mails and contacts will be cleaned from the servers and cannot be restored. If you use an MS client for Skype, One Drive, Xbox or other services, you will have no access to them. You cannot remove only one of these services and save others.
This will also delete all related services, including the following:
- Saved files to OneDrive;
- Xbox Live player`s data and nickname;
- Skype ID and contacts;
- NuGet.org account;
- Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, and MSN email clients.
So, before closing your profile, cancel all these connections, including subscriptions, and keep all the important information: files, gift card money, e-mails, etc.
What is Next?
If you simply want to start a new Outlоok mailbox, you can start it without closing the old one. You will receive a new email address, but you will not lose access to existing mail and contacts.
If you want to use the new email for Outlоok.com, you can simply add the email address to your profile. In this case, you will have an additional email address, for which the same settings, the Inbox folder, and the contact list are used, as for the main address.
How to close an MS account?
- Open the client`s Delete page.
- When signing in, make sure it’s the one you want to remove, then click Next.
- Browse through the list and check the boxes to confirm that you have read each item.
- Select a reason to close your entry from the Select a reason list.
- Choose the client to close.
Once you click the button, MS will begin counting down 60 days before permanently disable your profile (in case you change your mind or need access to your personal information). During the standby period, your client has been flagged for closure, but it continues to exist. If you decide to reopen it, simply log on your client account within this 60-day waiting period. The account closure will be cancelled, and everything in it will remain unchanged.
